Contact Form Block

by Jordy Meow · Blocks

Tired of those heavy and old contact forms? Try this one. Simple, yet modern, pretty and extremely optimized. No JS or CSS files are loaded.

Try it live opens a temporary test site in your browser, which can take about 20 seconds to load. Plugins that rely on outside services or a full server may not work completely there.

Biggest opportunity: Swap “block” for “block ip”. “block” isn't earning its slot: you're not in the first 24 results for its own search. “block ip” sits at #24 untagged, close enough for a declared tag to move it up. All five slots are taken, so one has to go.

1.9%

of downloads still active

At least 600 of 32.2K lifetime downloads are still running, in line with its category: the median Blocks plugin keeps 2.1%, across 1,577 plugins.

Downloads count every update, not just first installs, so older and more frequently released plugins read lower. Compare against other Blocks plugins, not across the directory. wp.org reports active installs as the bottom of a band, so the real rate is this or higher.

This plugin shipped 10 releases in the last 12 months, and every existing install that updated counted as another download. wp.org publishes no split between first installs and updates, so we show the raw rate rather than guess at one.

How busy the existing users are, measured as downloads in the last 30 days for every 1,000 active sites. A spike means a new release everyone's pulling; a long, slow decline means an aging user base that updates less.

I have several Meow plugins including some of the PRO versions, so I thought I’d try this one! This is an easy-to-use plugin that has a simple elegance. I do wish it had a Cloudflare option as well as Captcha v3 but don’t let that put you off. Get it!

As a freelance developer, I’ve worked with many contact form plugins over the years. Contact Form Block stands out for its simplicity and performance. The codebase is clean and well-documented, making it easy to extend or customize when needed. I love that it uses native Gutenberg blocks – no need for shortcodes or extra CSS. The lack of bloat means faster page loads, which my clients and their visitors appreciate. One feature I particularly like is the ability to add custom validation rules. It gives me the flexibility to create more complex forms when required, without resorting to heavier plugins. The only downside is the limited selection of pre-built templates, but for a free plugin, it’s hard to complain. This has become my default choice for most client projects.
