Removal-risk signals

53/100

Maintenance and integrity signals that tend to precede a WordPress.org removal. Not an official status, a heads-up to act.

  • Long abandoned. No update in 5+ years — the top precursor to removal once a vulnerability is found.
  • Falling behind WordPress. Tested up to WordPress 5.5.20.

What this plugin might earn a year, and what it might sell for. Modeled from public signals; we don't see anyone's books.

Est. annual revenue

Est. acquisition value

No paid tier is visible, so we don't put a figure on revenue or sale value: that would be guessing. The install base is a real asset to an acquirer, just not one public data lets us price. A small install base leaves thin data to model from.

Positive PraiseCompatibility

Reviewers say it does exactly one job and does it well, stopping WordPress from guessing URLs, and several add that it's still working on current versions, with a couple noting the same result can be had with a snippet in functions.php.

This plugin works well on my WordPress 6.4.2 site Thanks Hauke, this is very helpful for the very confidential site I’m working on.

This is a must have. WP guesses the most wild things without it. I found thousands of random urls on google, none exists. This plugin makes them 404. like they always should. A new hook will be added in 5.5 add_filter( 'do_redirect_guess_404_permalink', '__return_false' ); WordPress 5.5: Better fine grained control of redirect_guess_404_permalink() Until then. Must have!

It’s pretty horrible that wordpress auto-guesses a url because it will break pagination when category pages are auto-guessed and that leads to lots of internal 404s by webmasters. I got this plugin working and it solved all my problems. Just make sure you purge any cdn and cache. I think it also might conflict with some Drupal to WordPress migration plugins, so you’ll have to disable those eventually. This topic was modified 8 years, 9 months ago by alikgriffin.

It’s not really needed because the code can just be put in functions.php, but this does make it easier for people who don’t know anything about PHP.
