LottieFiles

by LottieFiles · Blocks

LottieFiles for WordPress is the easiest way to add Lottie animations to your WordPress website using the Gutenberg editor.

Try it live opens a temporary test site in your browser, which can take about 20 seconds to load. Plugins that rely on outside services or a full server may not work completely there.

Biggest opportunity: Swap “animation” for “interactivity api”. “animation” isn't earning its slot: you're not in the first 24 results for its own search. “interactivity api” sits at #20 untagged, close enough for a declared tag to move it up. All five slots are taken, so one has to go.

5.9%

of downloads still active

At least 7K of 118.2K lifetime downloads are still running, above its category: the median Blocks plugin keeps 2.1%, across 1,578 plugins.

Downloads count every update, not just first installs, so older and more frequently released plugins read lower. Compare against other Blocks plugins, not across the directory. wp.org reports active installs as the bottom of a band, so the real rate is this or higher.

This plugin shipped 1 release in the last 12 months, and every existing install that updated counted as another download. wp.org publishes no split between first installs and updates, so we show the raw rate rather than guess at one.

By activating Lottie, all the style of Gutenberg editor broke…

I was using this plug-in for a year until I started looking into why I was getting low website speed scores. This plug-in is horribly bloated, wow! I had C and D scores on GTMetrix due to browser render-blocking due to heavy file sizes and JS. I replaced it with the Lottie Player from bPlugins and immediately got A. Replacing the plug-in brought the file size on an HTML page I used for comparison down from 2.3 MB to 190 KB. Make your own tests and decide for yourself or know that I already did it for you, and look elsewhere for a better plug-in.

The plugin has not been updated for many months. I see the following error in the block editor (developer console), even if I don’t use the Lottie block: Uncaught (in promise) NotSupportedError: Failed to execute ‘define’ on ‘CustomElementRegistry’: the name “lottie-player” has already been used with this registry

Added the block to my site and after I saved the page, it resulting in a critical error on the page. I removed the plugin and deleted the block from the page manually and it still would not load the page. Had to go find the revisions of the home page manually inside the database, delete those, and then my home page was accessible again. Sad because this has all the features I need, but doesn’t work reliably. This is not the first time I’ve run into critical errors with this plugin
