Removal-risk signals

53/100

Maintenance and integrity signals that tend to precede a WordPress.org removal. Not an official status, a heads-up to act.

  • Long abandoned. No update in 5+ years — the top precursor to removal once a vulnerability is found.
  • Falling behind WordPress. Tested up to WordPress 5.7.17.

Update activity

How busy the existing users are, measured as downloads in the last 30 days for every 1,000 active sites. A spike means a new release everyone's pulling; a long, slow decline means an aging user base that updates less.

Estimated value

What this plugin might earn a year, and what it might sell for. Modeled from public signals; we don't see anyone's books.

Est. annual revenue

N/A

Est. acquisition value

N/A

No paid tier is visible, so we don't put a figure on revenue or sale value: that would be guessing. The install base is a real asset to an acquirer, just not one public data lets us price. A small install base leaves thin data to model from.

The description for this plugin is very misleading. They say there is a “Lite” version, but as far as I can tell, it is non-functional. The description tells you all of the things the plugin will do without alerting you BEFOREHAND how much the addons will cost. When you install the plugin, there are NO INSTRUCTIONS except links to their purchase page.

This plugin does everything I need, and makes it easy for my client to manage her own content from the simple interface.

I’m being incredibly generous in saying that the admin pages are utterly terrible. It seems the focus of this plugin is to blare their “news” all over your page in scrollable sections while asking you to buy add-ons. An add-on for what…maybe ticking their news across the front end of my site, too? Uninstalled, irritated that this slipped into the repository, will not install anything from this company again. Very poor implementation. I can’t believe I just downloaded a half-Mb plugin just to put their ads in my face. The devs got me! But only this once…

Poorly laid out admin pages – please don’t take over my admin with your “news” content and logos everywhere. Respect the UI! Annoying to say the least. More importantly, very confusing as it is difficult to know what, exactly, the functionality of this plugin is, other than to place a Reverbnation button in a widget. Of course, the author provides many links to premium “add-ons”. Very disappointing. Finally, why the huge text everywhere about JS and Ajax? I no longer use this plugin.

Make sure you update the settings in the Plug-Ins tab before updating the plug-in when you install it. Once I figured out that little gem, this plug-in has worked great!
