Biggest opportunity: Add “certificate” to your wp.org tags. You rank #12 for it without listing it, close enough for a declared tag to move you up. WordPress.org counts only your first five tags, so with 3 listed it's a slot worth spending.

How it's measured →2.6%
of downloads still active
At least 4K of 154.8K lifetime downloads are still running, above its category: the median Education plugin keeps 1.0%, across 176 plugins.
Downloads count every update, not just first installs, so older and more frequently released plugins read lower. Compare against other Education plugins, not across the directory. wp.org reports active installs as the bottom of a band, so the real rate is this or higher.
This plugin shipped 2 releases in the last 12 months, and every existing install that updated counted as another download. wp.org publishes no split between first installs and updates, so we show the raw rate rather than guess at one.

wp.org is where the directory puts the plugin for that search. On merit is where it would sit if results were ranked on rating, support and updates, without the install boost. The last column is how far the wp.org position moved, from our first reading in the last 90 days to the latest.
| Keyword | wp.org | On merit | wp.org move, 90 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| sensei | #2 | #23 | 0 |
| sensei lms your tag | #3 | #23 | 0 |
| certificates your tag | #8 | #24 | 0 |
| certificate | #12 | #24 | 0 |
| course certificate your tag | #15 | #24 | up 1 |
13 searches this plugin appeared in over the last 90 days, 5 listed. 8 left out as unrelated or noise (years, numbers, stray words).
What to do about it
- Add “certificate” to your wp.org tags. You rank #12 for it without listing it, close enough for a declared tag to move you up. WordPress.org counts only your first five tags, so with 3 listed it's a slot worth spending.
- One page off on “course certificate”. #15 puts you just past the first ten results, where almost all the clicks stop. The gap to close is small.

Update activity
How busy the existing users are, measured as downloads in the last 30 days for every 1,000 active sites. A spike means a new release everyone's pulling; a long, slow decline means an aging user base that updates less.

What its installed base runs
via wordpress.orgShare of active installs on each version of this plugin. Green is the current release; a big slice on older versions is a user base that has stopped updating.
Estimated active installs
The public count shows “4K+”. Our estimate pins where the real number sits.
Crossed into this band 3 months ago and a band this size takes about a year or more to cross, so the real count is still just under 5K.

The Sensei team has seemingly abandoned what would correctly be argued as one of their most important features. Frighteningly, they are now ignoring security-related pull requests which are timing out and closing without being pushed. I cannot add links to my review, but you can look this plugin up on Github and view the open and closed pull requests. In fact, this same behavior is seen in other official Sensei plugins such as Sensei Course Progress and Sensei Media Attachments. I would highly recommend steering clear of this plugin and re-evaluating your options when it comes to Sensei as a whole. I’m in the process of moving the last of my clients off of Sensei and onto a more secure platform with active development. This topic was modified 3 years, 3 months ago by PD.
