   I’m not sure what this plugin does that WP core doesn’t do, but it fixed tons of 404’s we were having from changing our permalink structure. We tried Yoasts tool that makes a rule for .htaccess, but unfortunately if your permalink structure was /%category%/%postname%/ before, the .htaccess rule overrides any /category/ URL’s. So we had to turn that off, but WP wasn’t catching many of the URL’s and redirecting them properly. I installed and activated this plugin, and everything seems good to go! Awesome plugin!

   This is excellent! Fixed a problem with links in the old permalink structure returning 404s. All the googles say to change your htaccess file, but that didn’t fix my problem. This plugin fixed those old-permalink 404s. Huzzah !! Strongly recommended !!
