Artificially boosted, install count is not earned
Published by SiteGround. 1M+ installs but only 90 reviews, 86% of them one-star (1.5★ genuine). SiteGround auto-installed it across more than a million customer sites, then genuine users buried it: 59 of its first 64 reviews are one star.

No paid tier is visible, so we don't put a figure on revenue or sale value: that would be guessing. The install base is a real asset to an acquirer, just not one public data lets us price.

i disabled this because of the floating icon that robs my attention. it’s a shiny object that’s intrusive, constantly having to move it out of the way.. need a way to disable that as for the installation. consent would have been the right thing to do. Sluggish but did the job after a while and saved a lot of time. I guess part of transitioning but I had restored my site and then it happened after initially making the page I was trying to streamline completely blank which was worrying. Still a few bugs to be ironed out I guess. This topic was modified 2 days, 16 hours ago by jdowling16.

This plugin has become indispensable to me. How much would I have to pay or wait to get technical solutions in a matter of seconds? Let’s try to use logic and not just ideological rigidity. This isn’t about having content or data stolen for training purposes, but—since few of us are tech savvy—about having an expert friend who can help you solve the many problems of running complex and vulnerable sites like WordPress.

As someone who has actively recommended and used Siteground for countless clients for over a decade plus now, I’m dumbfounded, shocked, maddened and saddened by the release of this plugin. And if you think, why so emotional, it’s just a plugin, just delete it. It’s because it speaks to so much more. So many of us have trusted Siteground as one of our top recommended hosts to do the right thing, to protect us and our clients as they always have. But this is 100% diametrically opposed to this. Not only did they forcibly install a plugin on every personal AND CLIENT website, it’s pure AI slop that has such far reaching abilities to create untold amounts of damage, the repercussions and potential lawsuits are unfathomable. And the cherry on top is that tokens will be invoiced if a client (or malicious bot) goes over the account limit. In all my years of developing WP websites, this is literally the only one that has had me going through the 5 stages of grief: Denial – there’s no way a company like Siteground will forcibly push AI slop into the repo, they know better, they’re the good guys, there’s just no way. Anger – holy cr*p, they literally pushed it onto every client website!!! I’m stunned, like literally seething. Bargaining – take a breath, ok well let’s try it out, it can’t be that bad can it? Depression – omg, this is a literal disaster. The good guys are no longer who we thought they were. Has everyone lost their minds? What a profound and deeply sad loss of trust. Acceptance – well here we go, no more Siteground hosting plans for clients. Farewell good friend, it’s been a good run.

We still cannot understand how one of our providers decided to override us and installed software to our final customers without consent. And not any software! An AI software (with their own branding) able to damage the website database, files, etc. by itself. Too many red flags crossed in a single dangerous, dangerous move. Installed it to see what the benefit would be–especially since human support is slow and takes a long time. Figured AI support would be very helpful. And it was–until it wasn’t. Ran out of tokens pretty quick having AI troubleshoot performance issues with the site (which was cool) but that only lasted for a few queries and then I needed to upgrade. Pretty low budget for what we pay for hosting. If I had it coding or doing actual designing and or building I could understand needing to pay a premium for tokens but for simple hosting support where they don’t need to pay human support person located in the Ukraine (or wherever) seems like a no brainer. Update you policy on AI usage fees and save money on the back end by not having to pay a support person.

So I could give this plugin four thumbs down. Do not auto install and activate plugins on websites, it’s simple. All that money and no one to pump the brakes on bad ideas. Shame.

Installed without consent on 100s of mine and my customers sites hosted with Siteground. SG should absolutely remove it or face a lawsuit.
