It’s a good plugin, but incredibly frustrating, especially if you have to set it up in four languages, with about thirty cookies, and for European countries, like I do. First of all, when you add a new translation language, all the fields are empty. So I don’t really see the point of the AI translation because, if the fields are empty, there’s nothing to translate. It would have been much simpler and faster if the fields were already filled in with English by default. Next comes the part where you have to set up the cookies. I knew this was a manual process, so it took me about an hour to identify each one and assign the correct settings. Finally, the moment came when I gave up: After the languages and the cookies, it’s time to select the countries. Here, you have to choose one country at a time, and for each country, you have to choose the regions to include, as well as the “Default consent states” (7 switches). So, for each country, you have to open the window, search for the country in the dropdown list, select the regions or states (though there is a “select all” button), click OK, then edit the country to activate the switches you want… Honestly, I like to support open source, but really, wasn’t there a way to simplify this whole process? In short, having run out of patience, I uninstalled it and opted for another, less time-consuming plugin. Obviously, this review reflects my experience and is therefore just one opinion. Pressidium Cookie Consent will suit those who want total and meticulous control and are willing to devote time to it. But for me, after two hours of configuration, I didn’t have the energy to continue. Still, it’s a good plugin, and you can tell the developers put a lot of care into creating it. It’s just too time-consuming for me.EDIT: I hadn’t realized you don’t actually have to select regions when adding a country (the prominent “Select all” button kind of led me to believe otherwise). You can just pick the country and add it as-is, which is much better. So in the end, I’m keeping the plugin: I asked Claude Opus to edit the JSON export I had saved and add the 32 EEA countries for me, then re-imported it. Worked like a charm. That said, the UX issues I mentioned still stand IMHO. This topic was modified 1 month, 4 weeks ago by DragoWeb.

Adore the UX. Fantastic for pagespeeds too.

Works great for lightweight use. If you have a small website and deal with a small amount of cookies like Google Site Kit and/or Jetpack then it is all good. The plugin is not newbie friendly though but it beats the other plugins if you want something truly free and open source. Kudos to Pressidium for the generous gift! Anyway to block the tk_ai cookie that is set by Jetpack block these two scripts with Regex turn ON: woocommerce-analytics wc-admin-analytics

I tested the top ten plugins and only this one managed to block analytics cookies for my setup unless the user gives full consent. It also offers consent logs as a free feature. Problem solved – kudos to the developers!

I was looking for an alternative solution to many other plugins out there and this works great. It’s open source and 100% free which is awesome. On top of that, the developer is very responsive to questions and issues. Thanks for the awesome work.

Having struggled with free plugins without consent log, and payed pluging which were still very hard to configure. This is now my favourite. Yes I needed help from chat GPT, but now my site is fully GDPR proof.
