Update activity

How busy the existing users are, measured as downloads in the last 30 days for every 1,000 active sites. A spike means a new release everyone's pulling; a long, slow decline means an aging user base that updates less.

Estimated value

What this plugin might earn a year, and what it might sell for. Modeled from public signals; we don't see anyone's books.

Est. annual revenue

N/A

Est. acquisition value

N/A

No paid tier is visible, so we don't put a figure on revenue or sale value: that would be guessing. The install base is a real asset to an acquirer, just not one public data lets us price. A small install base leaves thin data to model from. The recent download trend is too spiky to read.

WordPress’ support team is excellent and responded in a timely manner each day. For some websites, the transition may be easy. Ours was challenging and took 20 days, start to finish, after much troubleshooting. We’re a mid-sized organization with 20,000 supporters and hundreds of webpages, plus a store using WooPayments. That made things complex. Our website was completely down for three hours at one point and our store was down for two weeks. Part of this had to do with the loss of a team member on our end who had some knowledge about WooPayments. Also, we’re using a web contractor who’s involved but not immersed in our website. The Jetpack migration and WooPayment migrations were complex and the help-docs provided didn’t map to our view. We are on the other side now, just surprised at the time it took.

I am doing more and more website migrations and redesigns these days, and Migrate to WordPress.com is a huge time-saver. The support is excellent, and my clients are very happy with the results. I couldn’t ask for more.

I had been self-hosting on GoDaddy for years. GoDaddy support is so-so. Expect to pay extra even for something like migrating your pHP servers from one version to another. I tried it myself but it crashed the site. So I had to restore. Long story short, I got tired of the backend of patching and keeping up with updates, I opted to move my hosting to wordpress.com This plugin made everything easy. I couldn’t add the plugin through the Dashboard so I had to FTP it to the wp-content folder manually. Once it showed up in the dashboard and I activated it, it worked like a charm.

It was a very smooth exercise that did not disrupt the publishing process. Recommendable. Best hosting.

Worked well! Even on a big, complex site with 20+ years of cruft. This topic was modified 1 year, 8 months ago by Ryan.
