A migration toolkit under a feeds label
The category says content and feeds, but its weight sits in plumbing. One Click Demo Import holds 1M+ installs and 30% of everything installed here. Most of the plugins behind it, like WP Migrate Lite and Widget Importer & Exporter, exist to set up a theme or move a site's data. People install these for a job, then leave them in place, which likely explains why the top of the table barely moves.
The leaders also look after their plugins. WP All Import shipped a release 7 days ago and Feeds for YouTube 13 days ago, and none of the top dozen except one has gone more than six months without an update. That's a moat. A newcomer would have to beat maintained, well-rated tools that already own the habit.
Search & Replace is the soft spot
The exception is Search & Replace. It still sits at 100K+ installs, but its last release was 777 days ago. It's the one large plugin here running on momentum, and if any slot near the top is open to a maintained challenger, it's this one.
The feed side is small and moving
The actual feed plugins live further down the table, and that's where the growth is. ProFeedWP, a LinkedIn page feed, went from 50 to 400 installs in 90 days. BlueFeed and Mirror App picked up smaller gains. None of them rank anywhere near the leaders, but together they suggest demand for feeds from networks beyond the usual big platforms. Classic RSS isn't sharing in it: RSS Feed Retriever slipped from 7K to 6K installs.
Category downloads rose 68.6% over the window. The rise is real, but the signals don't show which plugins drove it, so the cause isn't clear yet.
Security closures hit the import tools
The import side took the hardest closure. Export Import Menus, with 10K+ installs, was closed on 2026-07-23 for a security issue, the same day as Spreadsheet Price Changer for WooCommerce, which had 400+. Export Import Menus is by far the largest plugin removed this window, and it leaves a gap in the kind of single-purpose utility this category is built on. The other closures were small, two at the author's request and two with no recorded reason.
The overall read: the top is locked and well kept, and the openings are at the edges, in social feeds and in whatever replaces a neglected incumbent.
